A joint operation by the CIDG, DENR-MGB, and local police on May 4 in Barangay Tumpagon, Cagayan de Oro City led to the arrest of three suspects “Fred, Boy and Jake”, for illegal mining under Republic Act 7942. Authorities caught the individuals conducting excavation without permits and confiscated heavy equipment and tools worth an estimated ₱15.6 million.
