The Economy and Development Council (ED Council), chaired by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., has approved the ₱145.56-billion Central Mindanao High Standard Highway Construction Project (CMHSHCP) – Cagayan de Oro–Malaybalay Section, a new 64.7-kilometer four-lane highway that will pass through Cagayan de Oro and Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental, and Manolo Fortich, Sumilao, Impasugong, and Malaybalay in Bukidnon. To be funded under the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA), it includes the construction of 47 bridges, nine of which are long-span bridges.

As previously disclosed, the project will include a toll plaza and five major interchanges—features that will be a first in Northern Mindanao.

The approval was made during the Council’s meeting on January 8, according to Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) – SOURCE
