Kristine Du Adams, originally from Cagayan de Oro City and now an English Language Arts teacher based in South Carolina, United States, recently led an International Christmas Book Drive that donated over 1,000 books to two under-resourced public high schools in Northern Mindanao. Adams, a Xavier University–Ateneo de Cagayan alumna, partnered with Xavier Ateneo’s School of Education Teacher’s Guild to support the project, which was made possible through a $1,000 grant from the ELATE James Moffett Memorial Award she received from the National Council of Teachers of English. The initiative, featured by local US media, highlights global collaboration and Adams’ commitment to expanding access to education in her hometown.
The recipients are Pigsag-an National High School in Cagayan de Oro City, and San Francisco de Asis National High School in El Salvador City.
