Mindanao State University at Naawan (MSUN) has officially broken ground on the MSUN Infirmary Hospital, a major step forward for community healthcare and student training in Northern Mindanao. Funded by the Department of Health and operated by MSUN, the facility will serve as a government infirmary and a training and research hub for students. Once completed, it will provide primary and emergency care for Naawan and nearby towns, helping address long-standing gaps in medical access.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the MSUN Infirmary Hospital project brought together national and local officials—including representatives from the DOH — Dr. Policarpio Murillo IV, representing Undersecretary Dr. Gregorio T. Murillo Jr.; Dr. Sulpicio Henry M. Legaspi Jr., Regional Director of DOH Region 10, Deputy Speaker Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano, and Naawan Mayor Dennis Roa—along with MSUN leaders, project partners, and community members. All expressed strong support for the project, which is expected to become an important healthcare facility and training center for the region.

MSUN officials were led by Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Asst. Prof. Gergie A. Ambato, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Ms. Rhoda D. Perpetua, CPA, and Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Initiatives Assoc. Prof. Frederick Cabactulan. Representatives from the joint venture of MAHJ Builders and FP Alonto Construction, the project contractor also attended the event.
