Since its establishment in 2007, residents of Barangay Malanang, Opol, Misamis Oriental—particularly those in Pag-IBIG Citihomes—had never experienced severe flooding until today. Developed by Johndorf Ventures Corporation, the subdivision was one of the first major residential communities in the area, quickly selling out to families seeking a peaceful suburban lifestyle just outside Cagayan de Oro City. However, that peace was briefly disrupted as heavy rains brought by an incoming typhoon caused floodwaters to sweep through the subdivision’s roads. Fortunately, the knee-deep waters receded a few hours later, leaving residents hopeful it was just an isolated incident.
