Not all heroes wear uniforms—some have wagging tails and hearts full of courage. Miyuki, a brave search-and-rescue 5-year-old Dutch Shepherd–American Bully mix dog, and her handler, Mr. Dionisio Montemayor Jr., became a symbol of hope during the Quezon, Bukidnon landslide on October 18, 2025. For her courage and dedication, NUCAN by Nupec, together with Pets 2GO Group of Companies, Maxime by Pilmico Foods Corporation and Boop Dog & Cat Boutique, recognized Miyuki as the NUCAN Hero Dog—an inspiring symbol of compassion, loyalty, and bravery.
Miyuki, alongside her handler, Mr. Dionisio Montemayor Jr. from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Opol, Misamis Oriental, were called in to join the search-and-rescue operations. On October 23, Miyuki helped locate the missing couple by alerting rescuers to their position at the landslide site.
