The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region X presented a detour plan for the Bukidnon–Davao Road during a coordination meeting on October 23, 2025, at the Municipal Mayor’s Office in Libertad, Quezon, Bukidnon. The plan seeks to ensure the safe and continuous repair of the landslide-damaged section of the highway while maintaining access for motorists and residents. DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon earlier set a 4–5 month timeline for the detour’s construction, but Mayor Pablo “Poling” Lorenzo III appealed for consideration of its broader economic and social impacts, particularly on transportation, livelihood, and emergency response.

The Bukidnon–Davao Road serves as a vital trade link between Northern Mindanao and the Davao Region, used heavily for transporting goods, including exports. Reports have noted increased prices of commodities due to longer transport routes since the road closure.

DPWH Regional Director Engr. Lilibeth C. Aparecio, Supervising Geologist Joy Christine V. Asis, and their technical team led the discussion, focusing on finalizing an alternate route to minimize transport delays and protect residents during ongoing geotechnical testing and construction. The soil and rock tests are expected to take two months, followed by three months of construction in coordination with the LGU. A temporary route will also be opened to allow access for residents and light vehicles.
