Cogon Public Market now equipped with Wastewater Treatment Facility

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, together with EMB Regional Director Reynaldo S. Digamo and other city officials, led the ceremonial turnover of the new wastewater treatment facility at Cogon Public Market on October 7, 2025. The city’s largest public market, Cogon is now the second in Cagayan de Oro to be equipped with such a facility, following the Carmen Market, which was inaugurated in July 2025.

Director Digamo commended Mayor Uy for the city’s compliance with Republic Act 9275, or the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004, through the installation of wastewater treatment facilities in public markets. Mayor Klarex, on the other hand, emphasized that public health remains a top priority, and despite financial challenges, the city remains committed to ensuring cleaner and safer markets for everyone.

The event was also attended by city department managers, barangay leaders, and members of the Cogon Market United Vendors Association
