Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines—Cagayan de Oro-based enterprise Puyo Handicrafts clinched the CAEXPO Excellent Design Award for its craftsmanship and market potential during the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) on September 17-21, 2025, at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nanning, China. Led by its owner-designer, Ms. Vivian Libao, Puyo stood out as one of the only two Philippine brands to receive the award.

Libao won the interest of international buyers by presenting stylish and globally appealing creations such as abaca fiber bags and purses. Her products sold out during the expo, a testament to both the strong demand for abaca-based crafts and the global appeal of her designs.

Puyo Handicrafts continues to expand its reach by maximizing its potential through consistent participation in trade fairs organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The enterprise takes pride in using high-quality, locally sourced abaca fiber and expert craftsmanship to produce unique pieces that blend tradition and modern style.

Additionally, Libao is a graduate of DTI Misamis Oriental’s Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program, which has strengthened her growth as an entrepreneur.

Puyo Handicrafts’ award is an affirmation of the export potential of Philippine products under the Philippine Pavilion in the CAEXPO 2025.
