Cagayan de Oro artist Emmanuel Mulawan emerged as the champion of the On-the-Spot Coffee Painting Competition held last August 26, 2025 at Ayala Malls Centrio. Mulawan stood out among 18 participants, besting fellow artists with his creativity and unique use of coffee as a medium. Neon Martin Abuyo won second place, while Mark Bryan Tombiga secured third. The competition was one of the highlights of Kapihan sa Kahimunan, a featured event of the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2025, which celebrates Northern Mindanao’s thriving coffee culture—honoring not just the region’s brews but also the passion, artistry, and resilience of the people behind the local coffee industry.

The Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2025, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10, is one of the core highlights of Cagayan de Oro City’s Higalaay Festival.

The fair showcases a wide range of local products from DTI-assisted micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental—from food and beverages to handicrafts and innovative homegrown goods.

Running until August 31, 2025 at Ayala Malls Centrio, the trade fair offers festival-goers the perfect chance to shop local, support MSMEs, and experience the best of Northern Mindanao’s creativity and enterprise.
