Jonard Ensipido, the 9-year-old Grade 3 student who was bullied and mauled by a group of high school students in Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City, is now back home after surviving a coma at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in Cagayan de Oro. Still on the road to recovery, Jonard continues to miss classes but is slowly regaining his strength and appetite, though his voice remains weak. He has already started doing module lessons at home and goes to NMMC for follow-up checkups. According to his family, the young survivor dreams of becoming a policeman someday.

After 3 days in a coma, Jonard finally woke up—welcomed by family, friends, and even strangers who came to show their love and support.

Jonard’s family also clarified that the viral video circulating online was not of him. They explained that the clip showing a child being mauled by high school students actually came from a separate incident in Masbate. In Jonard’s case, no video of the mauling exists.
Meanwhile, the suspects were already in police custody.
