Rising Star: Javi Mariona, the young footballer with CDO roots making his mark

Did you know? An emerging Filipino footballer making waves with the Philippines U-23 National Team has roots in Cagayan de Oro City. Javier Alessandro “Javi” Jacutin Mariona, 20, who impressed fans with his skill and composure at the Mandiri Cup 2025, is the son of former CDO tennis star Marisue Jacutin and Rodrigo Mariona, grandson of Salvadoran football legend Salvador Mariona. With such a strong sporting pedigree, it’s no surprise that sports excellence runs in his blood.
