Two members of the Cagayan de Oro Boxing Team – men’s bantamweight Ronel Suyom from Agusan del Norte and women’s flyweight Xian Baguhin have assured themselves of at least a bronze medal after winning over separate opponents in the ongoing Asian Boxing U19 & U22 Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. Suyom defeated Shaoqing Li of China, 5-0, while Baguhin edged Moena Kashiwada of Japan to advance into the semifinals.
Suyom next faces Dulguunsaikhan Kharkhuu of Mongolia tomorrow, August 6, 2025 at 11:00am for a slot in the finals. It remains to be though if Suyom will be allowed to fight after suffering a cut in today’s bout.
