Marlowe “Jumping Jack” Jacutin is widely recognized as the first Kagay-anon to play in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Standing at just 6 feet, the undersized forward began his basketball journey at Cagayan de Oro College (COC) before being recruited by the University of the Visayas (UV) in Cebu. There, he also suited up for commercial teams such as Mariwasa and Mama’s Love during the 1970s. In 1976, Jacutin joined San Miguel Corporation in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), where his tenacity on the boards despite his height earned him the nickname “Jumping Jack.” He entered the PBA in 1978 with Royal Tru-Orange and went on to play for Gilbey’s Gin/St. George Whiskey, Country Fair, and Tanduay, capturing three championships over an eight-year career. He was named a PBA All-Star in 1982.
