The Cagayan de Oro City Government and Xavier University yesterday, July 25, have signed an agreement to collaborate on the SWEEP CDOC (Smart Waste-to-Energy Empowerment for Cagayan de Oro City) project, which promotes urban sustainability through waste-to-energy (WtE) technology. Funded by Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), the project will use smart planning and data to integrate WtE solutions into city development. The LGU will provide data, technical support, logistics, and cover project-related costs, while Xavier University leads the research and implementation.
City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” A. Uy and Xavier Ateneo President Mars Chan, SJ led the signing agreement, witnessed by officials from both institutions, including CLENRO Manager Engr. Armen Cuenca, CMISID Manager Zelfred Anthony T. Cocon, XU VP for Social Development Engr. Dexter S. Lo, XU Engineering Dean Christine May C. Salvaloza, and Project Leader Dr. Maria Theresa Isla-Cabaraban.
