From Coma to Career: Brain injury survivor hired at PWD Job Fair

After surviving a severe accident that left him comatose for 15 days and given only four months to live due to a brain injury, Bernard F. Butcon defied the odds. Five years later, despite his psychosocial disability, he was hired on the spot at a recent PWD Job Fair in Cagayan de Oro City. The job fair, held in celebration of the 47th National Disability Rights Week, was organized by the Job Placement Bureau – Public Employment Service Office in partnership with Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE Region X).
