A new cultural landmark called “KAUYAGAN” will soon rise in Baungon, Bukidnon. Standing three storeys high, it will be built along the Cagayan de Oro (Cabula) – Baungon Road, near Barangays Nicdao and Liboran, in an area locally known as “Kamatayan.” Designed by Kit Gresos, the landmark features a large baungon fruit held by hands, figures of indigenous peoples, smaller baungon fruits, and rafflesia flowers at its base. It will also include a visual panel showcasing Baungon’s history. The project aims to replace the area’s negative “Kamatayan” image with “Kauyagan,” which symbolizes life and culture. Completion is targeted by December this year.
Below is the perspective of the landmark.

Here’s the location.

A ritual honoring cultural traditions was conducted at the site (photos by Kit Gresos), a requirement prior to project implementation.

Gresos was also behind several new cultural landmarks in Talakag, Bukidnon marking the boundaries with Cagayan de Oro, Lantapan and Pangantucan, Bukidnon. See below.

Keep posted.
