RANDOM SHOTS: Camiguin’s White Island – A Breathtaking Sandbar Escape

White Island in Camiguin is a stunning, crescent-shaped white sandbar located 1.4 km off Mambajao’s coast. Surrounded by clear waters and views of Mt. Hibok-Hibok, it offers a peaceful escape perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and photography. With no trees or structures, visitors should bring their own supplies. Accessible by boat, White Island is a must-visit natural gem that showcases the pristine beauty of Camiguin.

Located about 1.4 kilometers off the northern coast of Mambajao, White Island is accessible via a short boat ride from the jump-off point in Barangay Yumbing or Agoho. Unlike typical islands, it has no trees, structures, or permanent features—just a crescent-shaped stretch of glistening white sand that shifts its shape slightly depending on the tides and weather.

Because there are no facilities on the island, visitors are advised to bring their own umbrellas, drinking water, and sun protection. Boats are available for hire from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with early morning visits highly recommended for calmer seas and cooler weather.

Visitors to White Island are treated to a postcard-perfect paradise ideal for swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, and taking in panoramic views of the surrounding seascape and volcanic mountains. The waters are calm and clear, making them ideal for a refreshing dip, while the sandbar itself provides a quiet space for relaxation or scenic photography.
