CJ Perez dropped 33 points while Don Trollano chipped in 24 as the San Miguel Beermen fended off a late Rain or Shine rally to secure a 120-111 win before a good Saturday crowd at the Aquilino Pimentel Jr. Convention Center in Cagayan de Oro City. The victory marked the Beermen’s seventh win against two losses in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup eliminations while the Elasto Painters dropped to 6-4.
San Miguel controlled most of the game until the Elasto Painters mounted a late rally, cutting the lead to just one, 102-103, on an Adrian Nocum basket, less than 5 minutes left in the game. However, the Beermen held their ground, with CJ Perez and Don Trollano delivering clutch shots to hold off Rain or Shine’s comeback attempt.
Andrei Caracut and Nocum carried the load for Rain or Shine, with 24 and 22 points, respectively.
