A traveler took to social media to express frustration after discovering his car smeared with mud following a two-night stay at the Laguindingan Airport parking area. He also pointed out that the parking fee has recently increased to ₱600 for overnight stays. In photos shared by the traveler, mud can be seen splattered across his car’s hood and part of the windshield, raising concerns about the cleanliness and upkeep of the airport’s parking facilities.

It can be recalled that since Laguindingan Airport opened in 2013, the number of travelers has steadily increased, but no additional parking spaces have been developed. As a result, the landscaped areas beside the main parking lot have been repurposed for overnight parking. With the recent stretch of almost daily rain, these unpaved areas have become muddy, leading to inconvenience and complaints from travelers.

Here’s a satellite shot (via Google Earth) of the airport’s only parking area. You can observe vehicles already parked on the unpaved sections.

In this larger shot, there are still lots of space that can be developed into parking spaces or parking buildings. Hopefully, Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC) has already looked into this concern.

Meanwhile, another traveler shared his unpleasant experience at the airport’s overnight parking area, saying he opted to take a taxi to Cagayan de Oro upon arrival after finding his car’s tires caked in thick mud.
