HISTORY WATCH: Honoring Heroes – CDO pays tribute to veterans on 80th Liberation Day

Cagayan de Oro City officials paid tribute to World War II veterans on May 17 during the city’s 80th Liberation Day at the City Museum. The event, called the “General Offensive,” marked the 1945 military operation led by the 10th Military District from May 9 to 12, 1945 that helped free the city from Japanese occupation. City Administrator Roy Hilario Raagas, speaking for Mayor Klarex Uy, encouraged the public to remember the veterans’ sacrifices. The event ended with the launch of the “CDO Liberated Exhibit,” organized by curator Nicolas Aca Jr. and the City Tourism Office.
