You may have noticed the ongoing installation of large LED display monitors on both sides of the Limketkai–USTP overpass along CM Recto Avenue in Cagayan de Oro City. Strategically positioned in a high-traffic area, these digital billboards will soon be operational and are expected to feature high-resolution advertisements, public service announcements, and city-related updates.

The contractor responsible for installing the LED display is exhibiting irresponsible and unsafe work practices. Their welding operations pose serious hazards, as sparks and embers from their equipment fall onto the road below, endangering both motorists and pedestrians. Despite my efforts to raise this concern with LKKS management via email, it appears they have been unable to regulate or contain the contractor’s actions. This raises a critical question—where is the social responsibility of the contracting party in ensuring public safety and compliance with proper safety standards
