The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that starting May 2025, it will begin installing solar-powered street lights along the CDO-Airport-Bukidnon Road in Masterson Avenue, Uptown Cagayan de Oro. The project also includes setting up metal barriers along the center of the road extending from KarrJackson (near Manresa Town) to Wilcon Depot, covering nearly 5 kilometers. Center islands will not be placed at major intersections and subdivision entrances. This project aims to improve road visibility and safety using clean, renewable energy.

The Php 70-million project is expected to provide better illumination for motorists and pedestrians, particularly during nighttime, thereby reducing the risk of accidents on this busy highway. Check out the design of the typical solar-powered streetlight and metal barrier below.
