Fresh from competing in the FIDE World Junior Chess Championship in Montenegro, Woman FIDE Master Ruelle Canino conquered the male-dominated Under-18 Open Category of the National Age Group Chess Championships held on March 13-16, 2025 at the FPJ Arena in San Jose, Batangas. The 16-year old from Cagayan de Oro City went undefeated, scoring 7 points with 6 wins and 2 draws, including a victory over top seed FIDE Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca. Her victory secured her spot to represent the country in the U-18 Open Division of the Asian Youth Chess Championships this November in Bangkok, Thailand. Congratulations!
