A member of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) has surrendered to government forces. Carlito Dahunay Lindahay, also known as Yama, 61, from Sitio Lantad, Barangay Kibanban, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, voluntarily surrendered on March 3, 2025, to Lt. Col. Leoncito I. Grezula Jr., Battalion Commander of the 58th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. Prior to his surrender, he served on the CPP-NPA’s Sub-regional Committee (SRC) 1, North Central Mindanao Regional Command, and worked as an Education/Propaganda staff member from 2018 to 2021. He has been involved with the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) for 34 years.
Lindahay’s surrender was made possible through the support of the Kinoguitan and Balingasag LGUs, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, the municipal police stations of Kinuguitan and Balingasag, and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.

In a press release, the 58IB credited Yama’s surrender to its TRIAD Swarming Concept. This strategy combined Focused Military Operations, deployment of Mobile Community Support Sustainment Teams, intelligence work, and collaboration with barangay officials and the LGUs of Kinoguitan and Balingasag. The goal was to neutralize the remaining forces of the Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Sagay (SRSDG) eagles and disrupt their operations.

During their meeting, LtCol Grezula praised Yama for his brave decision to leave the revolutionary movement and return to the fold of the law. He assured Yama that he would help him reintegrate into the community through the government’s E-CLIP Program under Executive Order 70, including assisting with his application to the Amnesty Program. This comprehensive peace process is designed to help former rebels become peaceful, productive, and law-abiding citizens, allowing them to rebuild their lives and secure a better future for themselves and their families.
