Pangantucan, Bukidnon Mayor Miguel Ariola Silva, who is running for Bukidnon governor, was arrested by the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office on charges of statutory rape and two counts of sexual assault. The 59-year old Silva was apprehended in Compostela, Davao de Oro, where he had reportedly been hiding since a warrant was issued for his arrest. His arrest was by virtue of a warrant, issued on December 10, 2024 by, RTC Branch 9 Presiding Judge Ma. Theresa Aban Cammanong. Statutory rape is a non-bailable offense.
