A Regional Innovation Hub will soon rise inside the Cagayan de Oro campus of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP). The development will include a 15-storey building and an 8-storey building on a 2,721.65-sqm lot, right next to the 8-storey Student Center currently under construction along CM Recto Avenue. Initially revealed during last year’s Regional ICT Summit and Exhibitions (RISE-10) at SM CDO Downtown, the hub – known as the Open Innovation – KIST (Knowledge, Innovation, Science and Technology), aims to serve as a dynamic center for innovation and collaboration in the region.

The 15-floor U-HUB will have a building footprint of 1,721.65 sqm and a total floor area of 23,582.47 sqm while the 8-storey U-FAB will have a building footprint of 1,000 sqm and a total floor area of 8,000 sqm.

USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II is shown presenting the Regional Innovation Hub and the Innovation Triangle during an event last year.

The development is located along the western boundary of the campus.

The Regional Innovation Hub will offer spaces for offices, discussion lounges, commercial spaces, collaboration room, Mindspace, seminar/training rooms, ideation/co-working spaces, pitching room, industry collaboration room, laboratories, server room, restaurant, and greenspace deck, among others.

Here’s another angle from a different presentation. The renderings are still on the conceptual stage and changes to the final design can still be made.
