A person-of-interest in the rape-slay of a 5-year old girl in Valencia City, Bukidnon has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after allegedly grabbing a police investigator’s firearm. The incident occurred while the suspect was having his extra-judicial confession prepared alongside a legal counsel inside Valencia City Police Station at around 5:30pm, Sunday, January 12, 2025. The suspect, identified as Marlon Galler Pantonial, 30 yrs old, jobless, and a resident of Purok-2, Sitio Paluan, Brgy Banlag, Valencia City, Bukidnon had earlier surrendered to the Police Task Force. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valencia Polymedic General Hospital.

It can be recalled that the body of a 5-year old girl was found at a sugarcane plantation at the back of a mall in Valencia City, Bukidnon, yesterday, January 11. Investigators believed the victim was raped first before she was killed. Police state that the victim was reported missing by her family at the oval grounds Friday night and they’ve been looking for her until her lifeless body was found on Saturday.
