Cagayan de Oro’s power pop Christian contemporary music band Thoughts And Notions has reunited with their long time vocalist, Thrina Dimaano, after 15 years. Thrina’s return inspired band members Jasper and Wilbert to write a new song titled “Countdown to Forever” – a sort of declaration of their renewed commitment to music and their fans. This track is set for worldwide release on January 10, 2025, across major digital music streaming platforms.
Since the band’s main songwriters, Jasper Tan and Wilbert Tan, made their comeback on digital music streaming platforms in 2021, fans have noticed a missing element – the familiar voice that once defined their sound is absent from the recent song releases.
Thoughts And Notions began as a fundraising project for their church, recording a 10- track debut album, “In Awe of His Amazing Love“. This album led to their signing with the country’s largest Christian music label, launching their journey into the local music scene. They later went independent, releasing a second album, “Love, Faith, Hope, Redemption,” which included their first mainstream radio hit, “Runaway Angel.” This track earned them a nomination for U-Rock College Band of the Year at the 2009 NU Rock Awards. Despite a record label offer, the band went on an extended hiatus.
The band made their comeback in 2021 by releasing both albums on digital music streaming platforms, but Thrina wasn’t ready to return as lead vocalist. This gave Jasper and Wilbert the opportunity to collaborate with other artists, resulting in a compilation album. However, the lead vocalist spot remained open for Thrina, and now, she’s back to reclaim it.
Her return inspired Jasper and Wilbert to write a new song titled “Countdown to Forever”, marking the band’s declaration that they are back for good. The song blends their roots with a modern twist, reflecting the era when the band began while updating their sound. Known for their positive, Christian faith-based lyrics, “Countdown to Forever” embodies a commitment to God despite life’s challenges. This song serves as the perfect comeback vehicle for Thoughts And Notions as they reignite the mission they started 20 years ago.
To date, Thoughts And Notions had already amassed more than 1.5 Million streams on Spotify, with three of their songs being featured on Spotify’s official New Music Friday Philippines and Fresh Finds Philippines playlists. They have already released three albums plus one single. The new song will be released worldwide on various Digital Music Streaming Platforms this January 10, 2025.
