Kawayanihan – ‘Most People Planting Bamboo Simultaneously (Multiple Venues)’ now a Guinness World Record

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and its partners have set a new Guinness World Record for “the most people planting bamboo simultaneously (multiple venues).” A total of 2,305 participants joined the Kawayanihan event held on October 18, 2024, across various locations in Mindanao. The achievement was announced during the ongoing National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) 2024 celebration in Cagayan de Oro City. Congratulations!

Kawayanihan initiative was a collaborative effort of farmer cooperatives, LGUs, government agencies, non-profits, and private sector companies to advance circular economy initiatives and promote smart and sustainable communities. By planting bamboo—a renewable resource crucial to climate resilience and industry value chains—this event showcased the transformative potential of science, technology, and partnerships.
