PROJECT WATCH: New Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail inaugurated; gradual transfer of PDLs to begin soon

The blessing, inauguration, and turnover ceremony for the new 5-hectare Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) located in Barangay Kamelon, Initao was held today, November 26, 2024. Governor Peter Unabia and 2nd District Representative Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano led the event, joined by Sangguninang Panlalawigan members, municipal mayors, and other guests. The facility, with 15 buildings, can accommodate up to 1,200 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in 300 cells (4 PDLs/cell). The transfer of PDLs from the old MOPJ in Cagayan de Oro is expected to start soon.
