The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) particularly the Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro is currently reviewing a request of the Local Government of Barangay Macabalan to allow the entry of public utility buses into the Passenger Terminal Complex. Accordingly, said proposal is aimed at improving passenger convenience. However, stakeholders are still considering the impact on logistics, passenger flow, and security.

This issue was addressed during the 4th Quarter Joint Meeting of the Port & Maritime Management Advisory Council (PMMAC) and Port Security Advisory Committee (PSAC) held on November 19, 2024.

The event, held at the GAD Hall Building 2 inside the port complex drew 67 participants, comprising representatives from various sectors involved in port operations and security, including Acting Port Manager, Fernando Mapalo Jr., cargo handling operators (OROPORT), shipping line companies, port locators like Shell Pilipinas Corp and TAO Foods, and law enforcement agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), PNP Regional Mobile Unit 10 (PNP RMU 10), the Philippine Army (PA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The meeting was also graced with the participation of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA 10), PIEMO Harbor Pilots, Stella Maris, and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental.
