A personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard was killed when his motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with a passenger bus along the National Highway in Burnay, Gitagum, Misamis Oriental early Friday, November 1, 2024. Police identified the victim as Redentor Pueblas, 49, a resident of Dabati-an Street in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. Investigators reported that the victim overshot a curve on the highway, swerving into the opposite lane, where he collided with an Iligan-bound bus.
The victim was rushed to the OWWA Hospital in Alubijid, where he was pronounced dead-on-arrival by the attending physician. He was reportedly en route to Cagayan de Oro from his assignment in Zamboanga when the incident happened. According to the bus driver, he had noticed the approaching motorcycle and had pulled to the side of the highway, but the victim still crashed into the bus.
