The Macasandig Section of the river boulevard in Cagayan de Oro City will soon be opened to traffic to light vehicles or vehicles with gross weight less than 4500 kgs, confirmed by Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) Head Engr. Nonito Oclarit in a radio interview today, October 30. This follows the recent signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the City Government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Originally scheduled for turnover by April of next year, city and barangay officials recommended opening the river boulevard early to address traffic congestion in the area caused by ongoing road works.
The Macasandig Section of Rio de Oro Boulevard starts from Balulang-Macasandig Bridge and ends at Paseo del Rio beside Liceo de Cagayan University Senior High School campus.

Engr. Oclarit also clarified that while public utility vehicles are not yet permitted to access the boulevard, they will be allowed once PUV routes are officially updated to include the boulevard as part of their route.

Because of this development, joggers might just have to use the sidewalk.
