Faith tourism in Misamis Occidental is set to receive a significant boost with the upcoming Sto. Niño Shrine project in Barangay Rizal in Lopez Jaena. The P100 million project will feature a large image of the Sto. Niño, a scenic view deck, a peaceful pilgrimage trail and a convertible public parking space. This initiative fulfills the lifelong dream of the late Mayor Micheal P Gutierrez whose vision was to create a local destination for celebrating the Feast of Sr. Sto. Niño, allowing devotees to honor the tradition without the need to travel to Cebu.
