President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. led the inauguration of the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao—the Panguil Bay Bridge—today, September 27, 2024. This 3.17-kilometer project, a joint venture between the Philippine government and the Korean Export-Import Bank, which began its construction in 2020, incorporated advanced Korean technology connecting the Municipality of Tubod in Lanao del Norte and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental, drastically reducing the previous two hours travel time through marine vessels and via alternative routes to only 7 minutes.

Both Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and President Marcos emphasized that this significant infrastructure project will spur socioeconomic and tourism growth not only in the connected provinces or in Region X but also in the entire Mindanao as it is a vital link between people, resources, and opportunities.

Also gracing the said event were Governors Henry Oaminal and Imelda Dimaporo, the Korean engineers and contractors, representative from Korean Export-Import Bank, local officials, DPWH Region X key officials and other guests.
