Chantal Van Ommeren, a standout rookie from Cagayan de Oro City, made a dramatic debut for the University of the Philippines by scoring the game’s only goal to secure the Lady Maroon Booters a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles. Ommeren’s game-winning strike came three minutes into stoppage time of the second half, to the delight of the crowd at the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Football tournament opener, held Saturday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium. This marked Ommeren’s first official appearance for UP in the UAAP, following an impressive career at St. Mary’s School in Cagayan de Oro, where she was the star player. Congratulations!
