The first Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Misamis Oriental broke ground today, August 30, in Initao, known for its beautiful white beaches and rich agro- and ecotourism sites. Located between Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City, Initao is a perfect stop for travelers exploring the province. It will also feature solar panels and a rainwater catchment system. Total project cost is P10,000,000.
Department of Tourism Secretary Ms. Christina Garcia Frasco led the activity along with Misamis Oriental 2nd District Congressman Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano and Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” Unabia. Also in attendance were Department of Tourism Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan, Initao Mayor Mercy Grace Acain, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, other municipal mayors, local officials and guests.
