The city-run JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City formally inaugurated today, August 22, its Human Milk Bank and Lactation Support Center. Established through City Ordinance No. 14183-2021, the facility aims to support breastfeeding mothers and neonatal care providing a safe and reliable supply of breast milk to infants in need of special nutritional support.
In addition to providing donor milk, the facility also offers a range of services to support breastfeeding mothers which includes counseling, education on breastfeeding techniques, and assistance with common breastfeeding challenges such as latch difficulties and milk supply issues. The center also provides a supportive environment for mothers to connect with lactation consultants and other breastfeeding mothers, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.
