Sixteen-year-old, 6-foot-9 John Renie Boy Tagocon of Corpus Christi High School in Cagayan de Oro City has committed to play for the Mapua Red Robins in the NCAA which starts in September this year. Tagocon, who hails from Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, was first noticed by basketball afficionados last year as a lanky 6’7″ 15-year-old center. He has been steadily improving under coach Pej Bracero. His entry into the big leagues in Manila is expected to further hone his basketball skills.

From Corpus Christi to the NCAA, Tagocon is expected to follow Corpus Christi alums like JD Cagulangan, Andy Gemao and Joem Sabandal who have made the splash in Manila.

John has a 7-foot wing span.

Because of his height and potential, he has been included in numerous local teams such as the Sealcor Kingfishers.

By the way, Tagocon has an elder brother who stands 6’5.
