The City Government of Cagayan de Oro through the City Inter-Agency Committee (CIAC) held its annual Urban Container Household Gardening (UCHG) 2.0 Panagtagbo yesterday, July 30, at the city hall mini park in celebration of Nutrition Month. This year’s UCHG Panagtagbo displayed plants that resulted from the UCHG and included contests such as a cooking contest and a ‘healthy toddler’ pageant for children wearing creative costumes made out of vegetables. Present at the event was City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, who highlighted the importance of gardening at home in light of increasing market prices.

Unta sa maong pagpakita ninyo bisan tuod naa mo sa kabaranggayan, daghang nagpasalamat, nagdayeg ug nalipay na makapa-awhag usab sa inyong mga kahigalaan, kasilinganan nga madasig sila nga mahimo man diay ilabina karon nga ang mga utan sa kamerkadohan mahal na kaayo. Pwede na diha sa ato tamnon ug makasiguro pa nga wala’y insectide na gi-spray ug gali man dako kaayo ikatabang sa pagmintinar sa atong panglawas mismo usab nagpasalamat ko sa mga barangay officials nga daghan pang ma-aghat nato nga makapahimata sa mga katawhan nga dili usikan ug dili nato pasagdan nga ilabaylabay ang mga ginamit plastic nga botilya nga pwede matamnan na og utan,” said Mayor Klarex Uy.
Among the participants in the UCHG Panagtagbo were the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries from barangays 36, Bayanga, Bugo, Carmen, Consolacion, Gusa, Macabalan, Patag and Tablon. Also present at the event were Jann Guillmore Actub, spokesperson for Mayor Klarex Uy, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Annie Tongson, City Mayor’s Office Consultant Jordan Ian Apat, City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) Representative Pria Tacandong, City Gender and Development Focal Point System Representative Jocelyn Peñalosa representing City GAD Focal Person Sheila Lumbatan, Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) Representative Paterno Gonzales and CSWD 4Ps Focal Person Arlene Baja.
