Bukidnon runner conquers Badwater Ultramarathon, ‘world’s toughest foot race’

Gerald Tabios, a seasoned runner from Bukidnon, Philippines, has once again proven his endurance by completing the 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon in California, considered the “world’s toughest foot race.” Now working as a full-time family driver in New York, the 54-year-old Tabios finished the grueling race from Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet below sea level, to Whitney Portal at 8,300 feet. He completed the course in 43 hours, 34 minutes, and 21 seconds, braving rain, strong winds, and humidity. This marks his 8th time finishing the race after previous completions in 2014-2018, 2021, and 2022.
