Road widening project results in discovery of hidden cave in Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro

A hidden cave has been discovered in Barangay Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro City. Photos shared on Facebook by Lyn Dagsangan have revealed that the cave was accidentally found during an ongoing road widening project related to the new bridge construction in Santa Cruz area of the barangay. Some residents are seen exploring the cave, marvelling at its untouched natural beauty and spectacular formations of stalactites and stalagmites. This discovery should prompt government authorities to survey the cave and take measures to protect it from vandalism, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

The cave’s entrance was exposed when the hill was cut and the top soil removed during the widening.

Local residents are seen going to the cave entrance.

This is the cave entrance. Perhaps they could be the first persons to enter the cave in a thousand years.

Check out the natural formations of stalactites ad stalagmites inside the cave.

Camera phones and flash lights come in handy inside the dark cave.

Some residents are seen touching the stalactites which could affect its growth.

The cave seems very accessible even with children.

However, cave experts need to be contacted soonest to assess the cave.

These stalactites were formed for more than a thousand years.

The cave needs to be surveyed soonest by the DENR.

The explorers are seen exiting the cave.

Meanwhile, government authorities have already sealed the site now off limits to the public. Read link below.
