The team of Engr. Darryl Abapo, Engr. Raymond Espina and Engr. Dweena Maye Zamora from the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) Department of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines – Jassan Campus recently secured 2nd place in the Professional Category for their entry “M/V JeepSea” in the Boat Design Contest, as one of the highlights during the 50th Founding Anniversary of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) held at Okada Manila last June 1, 2024. Congratulations!

The MARINA Boat Design Contest is one of the major activities of the Agency’s 50th Founding Anniversary, which is in line with the Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP) 2028 and the Coastal and Inland Waterways Transport System (CIWTS). It aims to raise awareness of the naval architecture profession and shipbuilding industry, as well as to enhance the capability of Filipino boat designers to innovate and use new emerging technologies related to boat design.
