A regional trial court in Misamis Oriental has issued a Writ of Preliminary Injunction against respondents Metropac Water Investments Corporation (MWIC), Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water, Inc. (COBI) and Rio Verde Water Consortium, Inc. (Rio Verde). RTC Branch 41 Presiding Judge Jeoffre W. Acebido issued the Writ of Preliminary Injunction through a resolution dated June 3, 2024, enjoining the respondents to maintain a status quo and to refrain from taking into action that will result in the disconnection or disruption of water supply and distribution to Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD).
The resolution comes after consolidated petitions against respondents. Judge Acebido also ordered COWD to put up an injunction bond of P20 million to answer for any and all damages the respondents may sustain by reason of the issuance of the Writ of Preliminary Injunction. Read below.
