Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Cong. Rufus Rodriguez recently led the groundbreaking ceremony for the 2-lane 600-meter long Access Road to Guadalupe Shrine in Barangay Balubal, Cagayan de Oro City. The project costing nearly P50 million also includes slope protection. The funding was requested by Cong. Rufus himself from Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco to make tourist/religious destinations more accessible.
Here’s the alignment of the new access road.

This access road will serve as an alternate entry to the Guadalupe Shrine, especially for those physically unable to walk the 4.5 km path and cross 9 rivers to get to the shrine. Cong. Rufus also requested the project contractors to include a parking space near the end of the access road.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were the Balubal Punong Barangay Pablo Bactong and the local barangay council.
The road will significantly improve access to the shrine from Balubal.
