Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam is just three wins away from his Olympic return with a unanimous decision victory over Turkmenistan’s Shukur Ovezov in the 57kg category at the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday, May 28. He now faces Artur Bazeyan of Armenia in the round of 16 tomorrow afternoon, May 30.
It can be recalled that in March 2024 during the 1st Olympic qualifying tournament in Italy, Paalam also faced Ovezov but was forced to withdraw in the second round due to an injury. Last night, he settled the score. He still needs to finish at least in third place in this boxing final Olympic qualifying event to book his Olympiad return. Watch the full fight below.
