Kagay-anon educator given Excellence in Teaching Award in New Mexico, USA


Lourdes College alumna Ms. Maria Christina Ganas, from Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, just got a surprise after she was conferred with the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation last May 10. She was chosen for the award after being nominated by colleagues, parents, and students for being an outstanding educator at Pablo Roybal Elementary School in Pojoaque Valley School District in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. She will be receiving $1,000 thanks to Northern New Mexico Integrated Security, LLC. Congratulations!

Before moving to the US in September 2021, Ms Ganas taught English for 18 years at the Gusa Regional Science High School. She then stints as a school head at Tuburan National High School (NHS), Bayanga NHS, Indahag NHS, then to Iponan, to Lumbia and finally at Cagayan de Oro NHS. She is a graduate of Lourdes College batch 1994.
