Universal Robina Corporation (URC) will be expanding its food manufacturing plant in Pedro sa Baculio, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental (ESMO) with additional production lines for chips, confectionery, beverage and coffee packaging. It will also be introducing a new production line for noodles. Along with the expansion is the installation of additional one unit coal-fired boiler. A public hearing is scheduled on May 28 for the said project.

As proposed, the expansion includes additional 45,420 metric tons (MT) per year for chips, 456,200 MT per year for noodles, additional 6,740 MT per year for confectionery, 15,251 MT per year for beverage (juice) and 11,775 MT per year for coffee packaging.

URC’s products are already household names and they include: Jack ‘n Jill (Chippy, Magic Chips, ), Nissin (Noodles, Ramen, Instant Mami, etc), Blend 45, Great Taste Coffee, among others.

By the way, the URC ESMO Plant was recently recognized by the National Water Resources Board and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for receiving the Water-Wise Award for outstanding efforts in water conservation, protection, and sustainability.
