As if the weekend water crisis is not enough, the Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (COBI) has threatened to stop supplying water to Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) if it fails to settle its outstanding payables amounting to P426.87 million. COBI has given COWD 30 days to settle this amount. This was indicated in its latest Notice of Disconnection issued to COWD dated February 29, 2024. Accordingly, this is the 4th disconnection notice.

It can be recalled that thousands of water consumers in the city were without water since Saturday, March 2 after a scheduled pipeline works affected by a flood control project which was further aggravated by an emergency repair of the same pipe that was completed at 2:30am today, March 4.
